The Core

  • Meet the doulas who work alongside Elizabeth to create the beating heart of Looma Birth

  • Meet Sarah

Growing up I never pictured myself working in the birth field. I studied Psychology in college with a plan to be a Marriage and Family Therapist. Now, I have goals to further my education in postpartum counseling and to become a certified birth educator.

Once I started having kids my whole identity seemed to change along with my passions. I have three children whose births have led me to become a doula. Throughout my own pregnancies and births I have had amazing support teams and realize that those people made a huge difference in how I went into my labors and beyond. After I had my second child at home in 2020, I began the process of training to become a doula through DONA International and completed that in January of 2021. I believe all mothers should have access to kind, attentive and knowledgeable support throughout their pregnancies and birth. My goal as a doula is to empower mamas to feel confident and educated so they can go into labor not fearing the process. My favorite birth quote by Anna Wilde is, “Approach birth as an opportunity to have an adventure on the way to meeting your baby, rather than an ordeal to be endured.” I truly believe that birth is intuitive and we can listen to and trust our bodies.

My favorite tool I bring to births is a heating pad. I know that heat can be so relieving for some and so I always have one with me. I also consider myself more of a minimalist doula and believe that a calming presence alone can be so helpful to laboring women.

During my free time I enjoy reading fiction novels, taking long walks with my kids or having goofy dance parties around the house!

  • Meet Jessica

As a child, I always wanted to “deliver babies” when I grew up. I babysat throughout college and was even a nanny for a while. My undergraduate studies were in Kinesiology with the intention to become a pediatric physical therapist. I didn’t get into graduate school during my first round of applications so I started working in a corporate office but I got used to the paycheck and didn’t want to go back to being a full time student again. Although, it was always in me to obtain a higher degree, so I completed my Master’s degree in Business Administration. Little did I know, I would later end up using it to start my own business.

I met my now husband and became a step mom, we got married and then I had a beautiful, unmedicated birth at a birth center. I knew immediately that I wanted to be in the birth world. My birth was everything I had imagined but the months after completely ROCKED me (hello, postpartum anxiety). I went back to work from my maternity leave for 2 days and quit my full time corporate job. I told my husband I would figure it out….

I took a doula training course and now here I am, still figuring it out! I enrolled in Elizabeth’s mentorship as a brand new doula and learned so much from her about how to grow my doula business. Although the course was only three months, she’s been my mentor and someone I’ve looked up to ever since! I have had another beautiful birth since then and have added a few trainings to my resume; Bengkung belly binding, yoni steaming, and baby wearing, just to name a few. When the opportunity to bring these expertise to the Looma team came up, it was an absolute yes!

  • Meet Aubrey

From a young age, I was captivated by the process of birth, but it wasn’t until I became pregnant with my first daughter that I dove headfirst into research. I eagerly absorbed books, from hospital classes to Ina May Gaskin’s work, and spent sleepless nights exploring birth stories on Pinterest and YouTube. The more I learned, the more I wanted to talk to anyone and everyone about pregnancy, birth, and babies.

After the birth of my second daughter, I had the opportunity to meet Elizabeth at Ra Yoga, and it was there I realized my true calling: becoming a doula. I began my doula training in 2018, and it has been an incredibly fulfilling journey ever since. Along the way, I also expanded my role in the birth community by teaching classes such as New Mama Circle and birth education, where I empower parents with the knowledge and tools to navigate their journeys with confidence.

In 2025, I took a significant step to further my knowledge and understanding of the pregnant body by completing the Body Ready Method training. This advanced training has allowed me to refine my ability to support mamas in preparing for birth and labor, ensuring that they feel strong, informed, and ready for the incredible journey ahead.

I believe that the transition into motherhood is truly life-changing. As we grow into new versions of ourselves, we need education, support, and empowerment. As your doula, my goal is to educate and empower you, helping you realize what you are truly capable of—without fear standing in the way. Through my own journey into motherhood, I discovered that education and a strong support system are the cornerstones of success, and it’s my mission to help you cultivate these.

When I’m not supporting families as a doula, I enjoy spending time with my three children and my husband. Whether we’re exploring Long Beach, taking walks along the bay, or just enjoying family time, I’m always seeking new adventures and I’m proud to call Long Beach home.

  • Meet Brittany

My career has always revolved around children. I’ve worked as an elementary school teacher, teacher coach, and nanny. Each, in their own way, led me to my work as a lactation counselor and postpartum doula.

In January of 2023, I became a Certified Lactation Counselor and in June of 2023, I completed training with Doula Training International and became a certified postpartum doula. I was immediately fascinated by the amazing things our body does to feed our babies. Learning about lactation and supporting lactating parents became a passion of mine. Breast/chest feeding is natural, but that does not always mean it’s easy or straightforward. Having someone to answer questions, validate experiences, and help trouble shoot can make a world of difference!

On December 28 th , 2023, I became a mama myself! My own postpartum experience has made me even more committed to supporting others through this journey. It is a delicate and special time deserving of compassionate and non-judgmental care. Feeding my own baby has been a rollercoaster and I have been so grateful to all the people who have supported me through the doubt and the tears. Now I want to be there for others as they navigate feeding and caring for their babies. If I can help a mama feel calmer and more confident, then I have succeeded! Whether it’s changing your first diaper, giving your baby their first bath, or finding a comfortable way to feed your baby, I am there for you!
