Education
While it is true that birth itself is unpredictable, knowing and understanding the steps that take you from being pregnany, to (hey!) not being pregnant are huge in relieving fear, anxiety, and building a positive foundation for your family. Learn about the physiological birth process, the process and policies of giving birth at a hospital, and so much more here within our community.
Support
You’re not alone on this journey. Not only are you growing a human in pregnancy, you’re growing up, changing, and a lot is changing. You’ll gain wisdom, awareness, and learn key communication skills to help on the transition so you many be the capable of the birth YOU want. PLUS join others who are going through the same stages of life alongside you in our online communities.
Community
You’re not meant to to do this alone - and we don’t want you to! Whether you have a village by your side or not, come step into ours. We build community around mamas who are pregnant together and mamas who are postpartum together. Having a sister to walk along the path with you makes all the difference! Come learn the power of community with us.
Where we came from…
With a vision to empower families, Elizabeth wanted to make something more inclusive, more expansive, and more for YOU - her mamas. Looma is more than just your birth doula, it’s a collective of doulas who are super passionate about the journey of mamahood and believe in the power of YOU and want to see you succeed.
For the history of humanity, birth has been the unknown, uncontrolled, mythical, mystical transformation of welcoming a child. We believe birth still holds this power but it must be claimed along side what is modern birth stories.
Now, in modern America, it’s thought of mostly as a medical moment where we welcome a child into the world. While we are certainly grateful for modern medicine and the tools they provide to protect and save lives, it’s taken birth out of the community and isolates it. This isn’t a bad thing unto itself, but it has made the birthing people lose their voice, their innate knowledge, and a communal education process of watching, seeing, and experience others births before their own birth. It’s our hope here, to re-create that community of connection around childbirth to help prepare you and your family for the most elevated and empowered birth experience.
Working with us…
1. At the heart of Looma Birth, is Elizabeth, working to empower, elevate, and educate our families. With 10 years of experience and hundreds of families supported, she now limits her number of clients to help run our classes and the behind-the-scenes. Want to work directly with Elizabeth? Inquire early. ;)
2. Our Core Doulas provide support for our families. These are our most trusted and dedicated doulas who will uphold our best standards for Looma Birth. We’re hired them into employee positions and they help us teach out continuing education classes and community events.
3. The Looma Birth Collective is where doula mentoring and the elite doulas mix. These doulas are the best of the best and we often match our Looma families to work directly with them based on availability, services, and location.
4. The Looma Birth Community is more than a service; it's a community. We strive to create connections among parents, fostering a sense of belonging and shared wisdom. Our collective is a safe space where experiences are shared, and relationships are formed. We have book club, parenting whatsup group, and more to help you find your people.
